Job Description & Requirements

The Keewaydin Environmental Education Center (KEEC) on Lake Dunmore in Salisbury VT is seeking environmental educators for our spring session beginning April 16th running through June 2nd.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: teach & work with small groups of 5th & 6th grade students Monday through Friday, in 5-day, 4 night, residential program focusing on human, plant and animal communities. Lead intensive field investigations & evening programs in natural science, local history, human impact, & land-use. Other responsibilities include daily dining hall meals & bi-weekly overnights in student cabins.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: motivation & enthusiasm for teaching children about the wonders of the natural world while role-modeling living in a caring and functional community. Applicants must possess a college degree and background in natural history, sciences, and environmental education. Staff must be at least 21 years of age, hold current CPR and First Aid certification, possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record.

 

COMPENSATION: $500/week plus room & board. +$150.00 signing bonus and $150.00 completion bonus. Staff housing is in simplistic wood cabins close to the lake. Surrounding area is a beautiful mountainous playground. Opportunities exist for employment beyond the KEEC season at our summer camps, and potentially into the fall KEEC season through October 13th.

Drawing from the natural world in which we live and study, we incorporate history, science, math, language arts, geology, and physical education into a series of investigations that integrate with school curricula.
