Job Description & Requirements
Maui Sunriders currently has 2 bike shops on Maui in Paia & Kihei. This job has the potential to work out of any of our shops, we can discuss your options and find the right fit for you. We are looking for a bike mechanic that is knowledgeable, enjoys talking to customers and can help with service as well as sales. We’re looking for hard working, detail oriented individuals that bring a positive attitude and an open mind to join our team. The ideal candidate will know how to fix any bike - from a kids bmx bike or beach cruiser to full suspension mountain bikes and high end $10k+ carbon fiber road bikes.
We have the biggest fleet of rental and retail bikes on the island. Our rental fleet includes high end full-suspension mountain bikes, road bikes, ebikes & beach cruisers. We offer full service repairs, rentals, daily bike tours, retail from some of the best bike clothing and gear brands in the industry. We offer a great environment for customers to enjoy spending time with the sport they love. We have built an outstanding reputation for Excellent service and we are eager to find the right individuals to add to our dynamic team.
Our bike tour offering is growing as we are adding new bike tour options to each shop location. We are proud to be one of the longest running downhill bike tour companies on Maui, out of our Paia location, with over 22+ years of facilitating a bicycle experience unlike any other. Upon finishing the ride, our guests frequently remark that their experience with us was the highlight of their time on Maui, and they were impressed with the quality of service we were able to provide.
At Maui Sunriders, we’re avid cyclists, surfers & skiers who have a passion for adventuring in the outdoors. Collectively, our team has decades of experience in domestic and international tour guiding, business management, bicycle service & rentals, and outdoor sport of all types. Many of us hold upper level certifications, and we strive to beat industry standards when it comes to safety and service. Our team is incredibly close, and while we love to work hard, we also play hard. After work, you can find us riding our bikes, hiking, or surfing. We are passionate about bikes, we take pride in excellent customer service. Our goal is to provide our local community with an excellent experience, every time. Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 3+ years of managing a business or in a service mechanic role
- Self-motivated, positive attitude, team player
- Capacity to interact with a wide range of people
- Ability to deliver an excellent customer service experience
- Knowledge and ability to help receive, process and maintain inventory
- Proficiency in point of sale systems, we use Lightspeed and BRM (Bike rental manager)
- Effectively prioritize and see tasks through to completion
- Well organized and detail oriented
- Familiarity with the ins and outs of all types of bike parts, including but not limited to: Shimano, SRAM, Campagnolo, RockShox, FOX
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and be able to be on your feet for prolonged periods of time
Responsibilities:
- Keep the workbench/workshop/sales floor clean
- Provide feedback/explanation/service to customers regarding their bicycle repairs
- Mechanical & technical aptitude
- Provide customer service, including sales, checking in/out work orders, calling customers
- Maintain notes on customer bikes and work orders in the Lightspeed Retail POS
- Work quickly and efficiently on repairs of all types and can be a bike building machine
- Ability to regularly work 40 hours per week including weekends
