Job Description & Requirements

This position will be working as a member of a five person U.S. Military Veteran fuels reduction crew hosted and supervised by the Medicine/Bow Routt National Forests and Thunder Basin National Grassland at the Yampa Ranger District.  Primary duties will include operating a chainsaw, stacking cut material into piles, hiking over uneven terrain, camping overnight on national forest land.  Crew members will be trained in the use of chainsaws and wildland firefighting, previous experience is preferred but not required.  The successful applicant must have a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.  The Forest Service will provide all supplies and equipment needed to perform the job.  Applicant will need to purchase minimum 8” high, lace-type exterior leather work boots with lug melt-resistant soles.  $300 boot allowance is provided by RMYC.

Location: Yampa, CO   

Session Start Dates: April 27th - May 26th, 2020

Session End Date: September 18th, 2020 with possibility for extension.  Temporary, seasonal, exempt. 

Pay:  $15/hour, boot allowance up to $300, per Diem up to $425.  Bunkhouse housing provided
